The freshly baked kolaches served at Kolache Factory are a modern variation of the pastry roll that originated in Eastern Europe centuries ago. In addition to serving many varieties of kolaches, customers can also enjoy gourmet coffees and a variety of traditional pastries such as cinnamon rolls, croissants, strudel niks and other delicious treats. Our company is as unique as the products we serve, and we are passionate about continuing to provide our customers with new and innovative products.
Coporate Profile:
Kolache Factory was founded in 1982 in Houston, Texas by co-founders John and Jerri Banks, who identified a need for a fresh, high quality breakfast that could be eaten “on the run.” After the concept was created and launched, one of the primary goals of the founders was to explain to consumers what kolaches were, since few people had ever heard of them in 1982. Although kolaches originated in Eastern Europe centuries ago, many consumers in Houston had not had the opportunity to taste them before. When the Banks’ first dreamed of the Kolache Factory, they envisioned a place with food that’s not only delicious and more nutritious, but served in an environment that brings back the charm and the warmth of the old world.
The Banks’ utilized a variety of methods to encourage consumers to try the high quality, fresh kolaches, and soon they were in high demand for business meetings, family breakfasts, on-the-go lunches, and afternoon snacks. Today, Kolache Factory is expanding nationwide and has received national attention for its concept and product.
Kolache Factory has been recognized across the country as one of the Top 5 Drive-thru’s in America by the Food Network, one of the fastest growing companies in Houston, and was recently named one of the top 50 foodservice bakeries in the United States by Modern Baking magazine. In addition, Franchise Times magazine listed Kolache Factory as one of the top 20 bakery-cafés to watch. We have also developed innovative partnerships with Major League sports franchises.
Kolache Factory is privately owned and operated, and headquartered in Houston, Texas. There are currently 16 company-owned and eight franchise stores in the Houston, TX area, one franchise store in Denver, CO; St. Louis, MO; Overland Park, KS; Beaumont, TX and two in Austin, TX. The corporate office also owns one location in the Indianapolis, IN market as well as one in McAllen, TX. Other franchise stores will soon be opening in various cities around the country.
