What is a kolache?

A kolache is a warm, delicious, slightly sweet fresh-baked pastry traditionally filled with sausage, cheese, or fruit. Like our ancestors, we at Kolache Factory, make our dough daily from scratch, using the finest, freshest ingredients.

Why are kolaches unique?

Kolaches are self-contained and neat to eat, and they can be conveniently consumed anywhere, from the car, to group or business meetings, to the baseball field. Kolache Factory features 25 different kolaches that are perfect to eat anytime. Kolaches are the ideal choice for a nutritious, “on the go” meal.

What is the history of the kolache?

The kolache originated in Eastern Europe, and dates as far back as 1700. The original product was a pastry filled with fruit. Kolache Factory makes its pastry dough using its time tested recipe. Our pastries are filled with a variety of the freshest ingredients including fruit, meat and cheese.

When was Kolache Factory founded?

Kolache Factory was founded in 1982 in Houston, Texas by co-founders John and Jerri Banks, who identified a need for a fresh, high quality breakfast that could be eaten “on the run.” Today Kolache Factory is expanding nationwide and has received national attention for its concept and product.

Are kolaches a breakfast food, a lunchtime meal or are they a tasty snack?

Kolaches are all of the above - they're the ideal thing to eat any time of day. Kolache Factory offers its customers breakfast kolaches, lunch kolaches and even serves kolaches that are perfect as snacks. Because kolaches can be re-heated, people frequently have them for dinner.

If I'm on a diet, which kolaches should I eat?

We suggest you try the lemon or other fruit kolaches.

What's the best way to re-heat my kolaches?

We recommend you microwave them. For 1-2 kolaches, microwave for 10-15 seconds; for 3-4 kolaches, microwave for 15-20 seconds; and for 5-6 kolaches, microwave for 25-30 seconds. It's best to microwave kolaches in 5-10 second increments, checking the temperature each time, rather than cooking them for long periods.

Whatever you do, don't "nuke" a kolache! This tends to turn them into something resembling a hockey puck. If you are re-heating several kolaches at once, you might want to use a conventional oven, preheated to 325 degrees. Arrange kolaches on an ungreased cookie sheet and heat for 5 minutes.

Monday - Saturday: 6:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Sunday: 7:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

If I'm on a diet, which kolaches should I eat?

Yes, in addition to serving kolaches, we offer our customers delicious, gourmet coffees and a variety of traditional pastries. These pastries include, but are not limited to, cinnamon rolls, croissants and strudel niks.

Does Kolache Factory welcome corporate accounts?

Does Kolache Factory accept credit cards or personal checks?

Yes, we honor all major credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. We also accept Company checks. Sorry, no personal checks.
